Business Process Analysis (BPA) and BPMN

A company’s business process models can be used for a wide variety of things:

  • Solely for documenting business processes in a company as a work directive or to establish whether the processes are correct
  • Analysis and optimization of processes
  • System analysis using business processes to ensure effective IT support of the processes

BPA Challenge

Diagram tools are often used on a small scale but it is essential for larger companies to implement a “real” modeling tool.

  • Business processes need to be available for various different people using them at the same time and be up-to-date ready to be modified.
  • Parts of business processes are used in other processes. This means that the tool should be able to keep maintenance of these parts consistent, e.g. renaming.
  • Business processes should be available in a notation which is easy to understand, on the one hand, and precisely expressed on the other.

MID Solution

Innovator enables modeling of business processes in the current BPMN 2.0 notation; this was designed, on the one hand, to be easily understood by users in the operating department and that technical users will also be satisfied with it, on the other hand. Innovator can be used in process modeling as both a stand-alone solution and a server solution for team work. This means that business processes can be modified in distributed teams.

Business processes can be linked with requirements and use cases in system analysis. Innovator ensures a seamless transition from the business world into the IT world – working together with technical Innovator variants for model-driven development.
