Innovator - open modeling platform

The Innovator Modeling Platform

As well as business process modeling, object-oriented and structured software analysis, Innovator also supports object-oriented design and data modeling. Innovator is especially suited for model-driven software development as it enables domain-specific language extensions using UML 2 profiles.

Advantages of Innovator:

  • Integrated solution, from requirements and business processes right through to application development
  • Supports open industry standards (BPMN, UML, SysML, SoaML)
  • Flexible customization using DSLs and profiles
  • Central model server supports distributed teams
  • Open architecture and Java/.NET APIs

David Norton: “Gartner is often asked: “Is Model Driven Development (MDD) relevant or is it a legacy of the formal development mindset?” The simple answer is yes! MDD has a place in modern application development. BPM and SOA based solutions can benefit greatly from driving the implementation directly from the models in terms of productivity, alignment and cost of maintenance. Combining MDD with iterative delivery, openness to change , and engaged business means organizations are not penalized if they want agility with control.”
